Having worked on merchant ships for more than 15 years, I decided to transfer my job area on motor yachts. I felt this need because I learnt everything which is required from an Officer to be an excellent professional.
The work on a motor yacht has quite a lot of similarities with the work on a big vessel. However, there are two, but very important differences that make a seaman so attracted to yachts. The first is that one works with and meets different people. And the second is that the need to rush the things is not as frequent as aboard big vessels.
The above words are written from the perspective of a person having a one-year experience as a Captain of m/y 'Aqua Virgin'. Notwithstanding the fact that I am on friendly terms with the owner and he would like that I continue be his Captain, the fact that the yacht has been on the dock for several months, made me make this application.
